Even Blind Pugh Knew: A Map Without an X Is Just a Scrap of Paper

“In archaeology,” as Sarah Parcak reminds us, “context is everything.”

The same iron rule applies in geology, treasure hunting, and crime scenes. Without secure, documented in-situ provenance and rigorous chain of evidence handling, a stone is just a rock, an artefact is just a pretty thing, and evidence is inadmissible.

Don’t waste our time or insult our intelligence with vague claims based on poorly provenanced material.
