The State of the A344 Path

As the planning committee discusses Planning Application 17/00280/VAR Variation of the pedestrian and cycle route scheme agreed under Condition 27 of S/2009/1527 for the proposed permissive pedestrian and cycle path on the grassed over section of the former A344 to now be open to the public by 1st October 2017 (allowing a further year from the original agreed scheme to enable the proposed permissive path to establish itself prior to it being opened to the public) I thought it might be helpful to share some pictures I have been kindly sent of the state of the path.

English Heritage claim it is unfit to be walked on but seem happy to have let the security team drive up and down it at Solstice.

  1. The path needs to be kept OPEN , English Heritage are trying to gain a complete monopoly of the site with NO-ONE who has not paid money to them being able to see any of it ! , this is why they support the proposed tunnel , so that even people traveling on the A303 cannot see it ... The site belongs to Nation it is NOT a cash-cow for English Heritage , For over 4500 years the stones have been free for anyone to look at , they should not be concealed from view by an organisation greedy for money !
